Alienating the Ignorant*
It’s no good hating or despising the supporters of successive right wing muttonheads – be they MAGA or “Reform” or whatever other dregs are drawn to the surfaces of desperation.
The mainstream parties had already abandoned those supporters for decades.
Why, when in power, weren’t mainstream parties, knowing they were in a supposedly democratic society, more committed to enhancing (still largely victorian) education systems?
OF COURSE the growing ranks of the abandoned and enforced ignorant* were going to turn to the jingoism and crudely simplistic arguments and narratives of the muttonheads – BECAUSE those of us who consider ourselves informed and educated and intelligent have for years abandoned them to failing education and health systems.
You all phucked off to your private education and healthcare systems and your private investments in property and cheap foreign labour and your “career” aspirations and left the uninformed and ignorant* to wallow and writhe in the failing remnants of the foundations laid, at enormous sacrifice, by the war torn generations.
So now, in a democracy you’ve taken for granted, you’re faced with growing numbers of the ignorant*, alienated, and angry dispossessed who are voting on the basis of their ability to assess information.
You, the intelligent, took it for granted by pathetically running scared as the corporate media manufactured and mongored Fear & Hatred at every mention of the word “socialism” (see ** below).
You, the intelligent, took it for granted by not acknowledging the difference between Ignorance* and Stupidity.
You, the intelligent, took it for granted by not waking up to 1) the fact that a democracy is only as good as its education system, and 2) the fact that economic disparity can and will distort democratic systems.
You, the intelligent, continued to support mainstream political parties because they appeared to be serving your narrow interests, when in fact they were abandoning even those pathetic interests to Corporate priorities.
And as the hideous destructive reality of those Corporate priorities began to slap you in the face, you, the intelligent, were too dumb to see the increasing strangleholds those corporations and their subservient “intelligence communities” were progressively achieving on our “acclaimed” western democracies.
Don’t blame the Ignorant*. Blame your phucking selves.
Get over your petty satisfactions with rising property values and your folio “investments” and your sorry “careers” and embrace, instead, the wider interests and struggles of the not so damn lucky.
Some “left leaning” or “liberal” voices on both sides of the Atlantic have bemoaned “the destruction of the middle classes”.
Well, that’s you. And you, the intelligent, were too dumb to realise what was happening until it was too late.
As substantial elements of the middle classes dropped into the same contemptible cauldron as the ignorant*, you were still too dumb to realise that this was soon to be your fate as well. So, once in the seething cauldron, when you’ve already lost much of the economic and political power you once had, you finally realise “O my god, something must be done!”
But as you look around among the seething masses in which you find yourself, all you find is ignorance and jingosim. And you think to yourself, “jesus h christ, these people are stupid*”.
But alas, they are not stupid. They are ignorant.
It is you who are stupid*.
